Using Custom Fields
Add custom text, number, date, or dropdown fields to capture additional information for each entry.
Custom Fields is a Pro feature that lets you add extra data fields to your entries beyond the standard ones. This is useful for capturing business-specific information.
Field Types
- Text: Free-form text input (e.g., Invoice Number, Reference ID)
- Number: Numeric input (e.g., Quantity, Tax Amount)
- Date: Date picker (e.g., Due Date, Delivery Date)
- Dropdown: Select from predefined options (e.g., Status: Pending/Paid/Cancelled)
Creating Custom Fields
- Go to the gear menu → Custom Fields
- Tap + to add a new field
- Enter the field name
- Select the field type
- For dropdowns, add the options
- Mark as required if needed
- Save
Using Custom Fields
Once created, custom fields appear in the entry form under "Additional Fields". Fill them in as needed when creating or editing entries.
Example Use Cases
- Invoice tracking: Add "Invoice Number" (text) and "Due Date" (date) fields
- Inventory: Add "Quantity" (number) and "Unit Price" (number) fields
- Project tracking: Add "Project Name" (dropdown with your projects)
- Tax: Add "Tax Rate" (number) or "Tax Category" (dropdown)
Custom Fields in Reports
Custom field values are included in exported reports, so you can analyze your data by any dimension you've defined.
Managing Fields
You can enable/disable fields without deleting them. Disabled fields don't appear in the entry form but their data is preserved. You can also reorder fields to control their display order.
